Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday Another lovely day on Tuesday. Warm and sunny. Maya Rose had managed to get into one of the fields again. I have no idea how she does it, but I went around and checked all the fencing again, tightening (once again) the electric cable. Extra work finding her poo’s in the grass and fence […]

Saturday and Sunday in the Azores

We had a bit of anomaly on Saturday morning. The quad that I used on Friday evening had rolled a little down the hill and was resting on the very taut electric fence cable. I think the cable was the only thing that prevented it rolling further. There was horse poo INSIDE the small machine […]

Another lovely day in the Azores

What a great day here. It’s been warm and sunny for most of the day and is still very pleasant while I write this @ 17:43 hrs (local time).   We went down to sort the horses, as usual at 08:00 hrs and I did not take my wind / waterproof jacket. Only about the […]

Heavy Overnight Rain

More heavy rain and high winds in the night here (for a change). There will be no early dawn as the clouds are dark and low, as I write at 07:19 and it’s still dark with just a hint of a breaking day. We can always tell when there is heavy rainfall, as part of […]

St Valentines Day in the Azores

A lovely start to the day today. Woke up to a St Valentines kiss and a cuddle AND a promise of a sunny day and no wind. Turned out to be mostly true. We had a couple of light showers but overall, it was warm and sunny all day. I gave Sue her St. Valentines […]

House and Pet Sitting in the Azores

We arrived on Faial island in the Azores, on Tuesday 10th January 2017. The reason that we came was to house and pet sit for Lesley and Alan Woodward. They have a beautiful house, 4 horses (one a foal), 3 dogs (one 8 month puppy and two older dogs), a cat and 11 chickens. The […]

A Great Day Out with the Harriers and Dogs

Three of us (Bella, Trixie and I) went out with the “Axarquia Hash House Harriers” (www.AH3.es) today. I took Trixie for a number of reasons. 1) I did not know what she would be like if I left her at home on her own and did not want to undo all the good work she […]

Kumquat Marmalade

I have been cooking today. Have had kumquats on the tree for a while now and I think that they are beginning to go over. I made some marmalade a while ago and I really enjoyed it, so figured I would have another go but a little bit different. So I took the basic recipe for microwave jam, that I normally use and spiced it up a bit, with ginger, cloves and lemon juice and zest. It’s REALLY nice!! Well, it suits me, anyway.
